Review Cosmo's Itallian Deli and Bistro in Port Orchard

ceakins — Sun, 02/15/2009 - 05:25

I've eaten many a Italian dish, I've had real home cooked Italian food. First off I was rather disappointed in the lack of Italian food using regional ingredients on the menu. We live in an area that has Crab, all kinds of shell fish etc. So my wife orders the ravioli, I order the Chicken Alfredo. I tried my wife's ravioli, and it was some kind of cream red pepper sauce. It tasted like something that came out of a jar. My chicken was overly done and rather chewy. The alfredo sauce tasted like it also came out of a jar. I've had massively better alfredo at a little place called the Dutch Cup in Sultan, WA. I in fact make way better alfredo. The salad which I ordered with blue cheese dressing was nothing special. In fact I was underwhelmed by the dressing, wondering when I'd actually get a chunk of blue cheese. It also took a while for our orders to come out, and wait staff wasn't very prompt. My suggestion to the owners is to hire a chef that tastes their own food, and that has a passion and love for Italian food, because it will show in the food. A chef that understands you should incorporate locale ingredients into the menu no matter what style of cuisine it is. I would have loved to have seen a seafood alfredo. The deserts looked yummy, may try just for deserts, didn't have any this time.

I give the place 2 out of 5 stars, just for what the desert looked like, and I haven't tried the deli portion.
